Two young girls were taught how to pray before every meal. One day their mother decided to watch how the girls would pray in her absence. A grandma was well known for her faith in God, and would readily reveal her emotional feelings without shame. Every morning without fail she would go out in front of her porch and yell, “Praise the Lord!” Her neighbor being an atheist would shout back, “There is no God!” To prove her point, the neighbor decided to play a prank on her. A man with leprosy came to Jesus and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured. (Mark 1:40-42).

Is there any reason why you should doubt God? If there is anyone that you should beware of, it is Satan, the father of all lies. There are many tests by which a gentleman may be known but there is one test which is above all. That is the test of authority – how he exercises power over those subordinate to him. Many people mismanage the power that God has given us, including Lucifer, the archangel. The prophet Isaiah says of him, “You were determined to climb up to heaven and to place your throne above the highest stars. You thought you would sit like a king…You said you would climb to the tops of the clouds and be like the Almighty” (Isaiah 14:13-14 TEV).

Pride has a way of getting into our system subtly, and causes us to rebel like Lucifer whom we now know as Satan. The rebellion costs Satan to fall from his position of second in command, and to be expelled from heaven. However, he still holds considerable amount of power and authority. We do not know how much, but it is enough to cause havoc in the world, including sickness and disease. Likewise, God who created us in his image also placed us in a position of authority and power over all creation (Psalm 8:5-6). But we forfeited it through our own sinful rebellion and pride, and inadvertently landed on the side of Satan.

One day a taxi driver picked up three passengers from different countries at the San Jose Airport. The one who sat in front was from New York.
