There are many tests by which a gentleman may be known but there is one test which is above all. That is the test of authority – how he exercises power over those subordinate to him.

Many people mismanage the power that God has given us, including Lucifer, the archangel. The prophet Isaiah says of him, “You were determined to climb up to heaven and to place your throne above the highest stars. You thought you would sit like a king…You said you would climb to the tops of the clouds and be like the Almighty” (Isaiah 14:13-14 TEV).

 Pride has a way of getting into our system subtly, and causes us to rebel like Lucifer whom we now know as Satan. The rebellion costs Satan to fall from his position of second in command, and to be expelled from heaven. However, he still holds considerable amount of power and authority. We do not know how much, but it is enough to cause havoc in the world, including sickness and disease.

Likewise, God who created us in his image also placed us in a position of authority and power over all creation (Psalm 8:5-6). But we forfeited it through our own sinful rebellion and pride, and inadvertently landed on the side of Satan.

 Who can rescue us from our predicament? Who can restore us to a right relationship with God? Who can heal us from our sickness and disease?
