The first thing that comes to their minds is the commitment required. No one can be successful without commitment; the willingness to work hard and give your energy and time to a job or an activity.
Secondly, they don’t want responsibility; the duty to deal with or take care of somebody or something.
Last but not least is the risk involved; a situation that could be dangerous or have a bad result.
These factors are enough to cause people to shrink from success. To them success is scary.
Most of them also have negative or poor self-images. The feeling of inadequacy about oneself; the state of not being good enough, will stop one from even thinking of success.
